Newberg Township, MI (August 20, 2023) - A Vicksburg man was taken to the hospital on Saturday afternoon, August 19, after he was injured in a motorcycle crash in Newburg Township.
At around 4:10 p.m., officers from the Cass County Sheriff's Office responded to an accident on Michigan Highway 40, just south of Dutch Settlement. A 38-year-old man from South Bend, Indiana, was reportedly heading north in his vehicle on Interstate 40. A 57-year-old man on a motorcycle was also northbound when the driver made a left turn, resulting in a collision between the two.
Medics and firefighters from Newberg Township were there to help. Because of his injuries, the biker needed to be taken to Three Rivers Health. Authorities believe that drugs or alcohol did not play a part in the incident but are currently looking into the matter.
Officers have requested any witnesses who may have further information to contact them immediately.
