Detroit, MI (August 19, 2023) - Detroit police say a driver hit a man and his wife as they went to dinner on Friday night, killing the woman and injuring the man.
The driver, whose identity has not been released by authorities, was also hurt in the incident that happened in Detroit close to the intersection of St. Aubin Street and East Lafayette Street.
The male pedestrian was in stable condition on Saturday as he awaited surgery on his ankle at Detroit Receiving Hospital.
The Detroit PD is still looking into the incident, but they have established that a man in his twenties was driving recklessly and hit both victims at the corner of St. Aubin and East Lafayette at about 5:30 p.m. on Friday. First responders transferred all three involved to the hospital, where the driver of the car was in critical condition, and the female pedestrian had already succumbed to her injuries.
An investigation is still active and ongoing in the interim.
