Brighton, MI (August 19, 2023) - After losing his engine early Saturday morning, the pilot of a small plane landed in a pond in Livingston County and walked away with minor to moderate injuries.
On August 19 at about 8:20 a.m., the Brighton Police Department received a report of a single aircraft accident in the vicinity, prompting officials from several responding agencies to report to a pond off of Advance Street in the City of Brighton.
The male pilot, who was the lone person on board, was found seated on top of the plane with injuries. According to the authorities in Brighton, the pilot took off from Pontiac bound towards Tennessee when he "lost his engine."
The pilot was sent to the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor for additional treatment and assessment.
Officials from the Brighton Area Fire Authority, the Michigan State Police, and the Livingston County Sheriff's Office all responded to the scene. The agency said that the FAA and NTSB had been informed and sent to the area to conduct an investigation.
