Macomb County, MI (August 18, 2023) - The Macomb County Sheriff's Office reported a serious vehicle accident involving a passenger vehicle and two semi-trucks early Friday morning, August 18.
Just before 6:00 a.m., deputies were dispatched to the site of the crash, which took place on Michigan Highway 53 at the exit to 28 Mile Road. Two semi-trailers and the driver of a Jeep SUV collided on the left side of the roadway around 5:45 a.m., per initial information released by local authorities.
The circumstances leading up to the collision, as well as specific details about the victims, were not made public, though officials shut down the entire highway to conduct their on-scene inquiry.
The total number of injuries is also unknown, but the SUV's driver was transported to the hospital, where he remains in stable condition.
Macomb County deputies are continuing their investigation into the crash and asked any witnesses to come forward.
