Plainfield Township, MI (August 15, 2023) - Deputies say a motorcyclist died and two others were hurt in a collision on Tuesday, August 15, in Plainfield Township.
Kent County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the wreck, which occurred on Pine Island Drive near Scott View Drive at about 6:30 p.m. When arrived, they discovered the motorcyclist, a 30-year-old male from Comstock Park, had died.
According to deputies, the motorcyclist was traveling south on Pine Island Drive at Scott View Drive and collided with a Jeep Wrangler that was making a right turn into Pine Island Elementary School. The Jeep's driver, a 44-year-old male, and his 12-year-old female passenger both sustained minor injuries.
The Kent County Sheriff's Office Traffic Safety Unit is attempting to locate the driver of a white midsize SUV that entered the elementary school's parking lot from the northbound lanes of Pine Island Drive just before the incident occurred. Sheriff's deputies think the driver may be able to offer a more detailed account of the events leading up to the collision.
Anyone with information regarding the incident, including the driver, was asked to contact the Traffic Safety Division of the Kent County Sheriff's Office.
