Detroit, MI (August 7, 2023) - The Detroit Police Department received a report of a collision with injuries on westbound I-96 around 7 a.m. on Monday, August 7.
The DPD and the Michigan DOT report that the accident occurred on the eastbound side of the freeway at about 9:30 a.m. Officials first reported that two drivers and a few passengers were engaged in the incident, which led to the closure of numerous left-hand traffic lanes and the subsequent deployment of first responders. A short while later, emergency personnel arrived at the scene, which was approximately a mile from the Davison Avenue exit.
First responders were seen doing injury assessments at the scene of the collision, but police have not released any details on the victims' health.
In the meanwhile, the investigation is being handled by DPD agents.
