Detroit, MI (August 6, 2023) - The Michigan State Police are looking into a deadly motorcycle accident that happened near Detroit.
The accident occurred on the eastbound I-96 ramp to westbound I-94, per a dispatch report from the Detroit Regional Communication Center at 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 5.
Police said that a 34-year-old Romulus man lost control of their motorcycle while attempting to navigate a bend on the approach from eastbound I-96 to westbound I-94. According to the police, a 31-year-old Detroit driver was driving west on I-94 when he attempted to swerve and avoid hitting the biker but struck the man. The motorcyclist was declared deceased at the scene, and the vehicle's driver was detained for DUI.
Investigators are continuing their inquiry into the crash, and further toxicology reports are pending.
