Detroit, MI (July 30, 2023) - On Sunday afternoon, July 30, officers with the Detroit Police Department were dispatched to a serious collision on the westbound side of Interstate 96.
According to early details and a preliminary accident alert released by the Michigan Department of Transportation, the collision was first reported at 4:20 p.m. and apparently involved at least two drivers. The right shoulder and part of the right traffic lanes were eventually shut down around the exit to Alpine Avenue.
Following the initial alert, DPD officers requested medical assistance from local paramedics, though the number of victim injuries, as well as the extent of those injuries, remains unknown.
The DPD is handling the accident investigation moving forward and has not released additional details in the interim.
