Chesaning Township, MI (July 28, 2023) - A collision occurred in Chesaning Township on Thursday night, July 27, leaving one person dead and two others injured.
Around 10:15 p.m., deputies with the Saginaw County Sheriff's Office arrived at the Corunna Road and Johnstone Road intersection to launch their on-scene investigation. According to police, a driver traveling in the northbound lanes of Corunna was struck by a pickup truck that was eastbound on Johnstone Road.
Both passengers riding in the sedan, a 36-year-old Chesaning woman and a 39-year-old Saint Charles man, were ejected from the vehicle. Authorities say the man was rushed to Hurley Medical Center with critical injuries, while the woman was later pronounced dead upon arrival at a nearby hospital. The truck driver, a 19-year-old Chesaning Township woman, sustained minor injuries.
Authorities are still looking into the collision and believe alcohol may have played a role. No citations or charges have yet been filed, though the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
