Auburn Hills, MI (July 22, 2023) - In Auburn Hills, a car accident claimed the life of a Pontiac mother, and injured two children on Friday morning, July 21.
The incident occurred on Lapeer Road (Michigan Highway 24) close to Harmon Road around 11:25 a.m. According to investigators, a 2021 Ford F-150 driven by a 36-year-old male from Oakland Township collided with a 2002 Cadillac Escalade as the man made a left turn from a median onto southbound Lapeer Road.
A Pontiac woman in her forties was behind the wheel of the Cadillac Escalade with her three- and five-year-old children. She was ejected from the crash and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition but succumbed to her injuries shortly thereafter.
The two children were also hurt, though they are expected to recover.
