Drivers in Michigan are known for exceeding the posted speed limit, and this is one of many driving habits that can raise the risk of suffering significant injuries. Nearly 21 percent of all fatal auto accidents in Michigan in 2021 involved excessive speed, and high-speed collisions claim thousands of lives every year across the country. There is more to obtaining compensation for a car accident than just filing some paperwork. You have to first establish liability for the accident. You must demonstrate how the negligent party's actions directly contributed to your injuries. Although no-fault auto insurance is required in Michigan, accident victims can still pursue a claim for damages.Michigan acknowledges comparative fault, and this means that a victim's compensation will be impacted depending on the degree of fault. For example, a victim who bears sixty percent of the blame will only receive 60 percent of their due compensation. If the victim is more at fault than the defendants, they are not allowed to claim non-economic damages for things like pain and suffering. If a negligent motorist leaves you with serious injuries, you must take certain actions to make sure your case is as strong as possible. You need to collaborate with an experienced attorney from the start of your claim.
