A total of 11,258 of the 38,824 fatal car accidents in the United States in 2020 were caused by speeding drivers. This is a terrifying figure for anyone who has to use the road. It should not be surprising that speeding drivers are responsible for 29% of all fatal accidents, since exceeding the speed limit increases stopping distances, decreases the efficiency of protective devices, and increases the force of a collision. These reckless drivers are to blame for an average of 30 fatalities per day and one fatality every hour.Even if you feel your injuries are not critical, it is still a good move to speak with a lawyer following an automobile accident. Our car accident attorneys can speak to the insurance company on your behalf to negotiate a fair settlement. Without legal counsel representing you, the insurance company is likely to either deny your claim or try to get you to accept a very small and inadequate settlement.
It is also strongly advised to contact the local police if you were involved in a car accident. Police will report the collision along with rendering first aid and other types of practical assistance. If you decide to file a lawsuit, the identifying information and a description of the collision are both found in the police report, which serves as important evidence. Furthermore, you can occasionally be required by law to report the accident.
If you were injured in a car accident, you need to be prepared to defend your legal rights. This means hiring a qualified attorney to handle your claim for compensation. You should not take on a major insurance provider by yourself. Instead, contact a trusted attorney to help you through the legal process so you can focus on recovering.
