Michigan has recently taken action to curb distracted driving, but it remains prevalent on the state’s roads. Between 8% and 9% of all fatal motor vehicle collisions on American roadways each year are a result of distracted driving. These accidents contribute to about 3,000 fatalities annually. If you get in a car accident, you should find a safe location to call 911, whether it be in your car or outside and away from traffic, after taking the time to assess your surroundings. Law enforcement officials can organize other emergency services if necessary and are equipped to administer first aid. If it is possible and safe to do so, try to move your automobile out of the way of traffic so that additional crashes don't happen and so that emergency vehicles can reach the crash site more easily. Exchange necessary identifying information with the other drivers, such as your name, address, phone number, and insurance information, and take pictures. It is a good idea to ask witnesses for their contact information as well because they could be able to testify in support of your case. Call your insurance provider so they can start collaborating with you as soon as possible to resolve the accident and the damages sustained. You should work with a qualified legal team to make sure you receive fair compensation for your injuries after being in a car accident you did not cause.
