Franklin Twp, MI (July 10, 2023) - On Sunday, July 9, a motorcyclist was killed after being hit by a motorist in Franklin Township.
The fatal accident occurred on US-12 near Mull Highway at around 5 p.m. A 56-year-old Adrian man was driving a 2022 blue Ford Maverick pickup truck headed westbound. It was then that a 60-year-old Carleton man, while riding a 2018 Harley-Davidson motorcycle with a group of other motorcyclists, was rounding a curve on the roadway. He was hit head-on by the pickup truck. The victim was ejected from the bike and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Ford fled the scene on foot, but he was later apprehended by authorities. He was then transported to Lenawee County Jail for holding.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is in progress.
