Monroe, MI (July 4, 2023) - On Monday night, July 3, a pedestrian was killed after being struck by a Ford pickup truck in Monroe.

At around 11 p.m., a 35-year-old pedestrian was walking on State Park Drive near Sterling State Park when he was hit by a Ford F-150 driven by a 23-year-old Monroe man. The driver was reportedly acting recklessly and fled the scene.

The injured pedestrian was taken to Corewell Health Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The driver was later apprehended and is currently being held at Monroe County Jail. The identities of the involved parties have been withheld.

An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is in progress.
