Royal Oak, MI (July 2, 2023) - A t-bone collision involving an ambulance in Royal Oak on Saturday, July 1, resulted in significant injuries to a trauma patient.
The accident occurred at the intersection of 8 Mile Road and Wyoming Avenue. An ambulance with two paramedics, an EMS student, and a trauma patient was headed west on 8 Mile Road when the ambulance driver failed to yield the right of way to a red BMW. The ambulance t-boned the BMW.
The two paramedics were unharmed, but the EMS student was injured in the crash. The trauma patient was trapped and bleeding profusely. The injured parties were treated at the scene before being transferred to a local hospital.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is in progress.
