Casco Twp, MI (June 29, 2023) - Five people were hurt in a deadly multi-vehicle accident in Casco Township on Tuesday, June 27.

The fatal crash was reported on Interstate 94 WB near Church Road at around 8:45 a.m. Local sources indicated that a 67-year-old Shelby Township man was driving a 2018 Dodge Ram pickup truck when he failed to stop and crashed into the rear of a 2010 GMC Acadia driven by a 33-year-old Port Huron woman.

A five-car pileup ensued, and the Shelby Township man was killed in the accident. The Port Huron woman and her three children were transported to McLaren Macomb Hospital in serious condition. One of the children was taken to Detroit Children’s Hospital in critical condition.

The driver of a Honda Civic was taken to McLaren Port Huron Hospital in serious condition. No other injuries were reported.

An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is in progress.
