Detroit, MI (June 17, 2023) - On Friday, June 16, a loose tire caused a deadly car accident in the Detroit area.
The fatal crash was reported on Interstate 75 NB near M-8 at around 4:05 p.m. A 63-year-old Clarkston man was headed northbound on the highway in a pickup truck when a southbound vehicle lost a tire. The tire crossed the median and hit the man’s windshield.
The pickup crashed into a concrete wall, and the driver was found unconscious by emergency responders. The man was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The 34-year-old man who was driving the southbound vehicle is reportedly cooperating with authorities.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the deadly accident is underway.
