Sands Twp, MI (June 4, 2023) - On Thursday, June 1, a driver was injured after a two-vehicle collision in Sands Township.
The accident was reported at 1 p.m. at the intersection of M-553 and Marquette County Road 480. A 19-year-old Gwinn resident was driving a silver Pontiac SUV when they were stopped at a four-way intersection. At the same time, a 73-year-old Negaunee resident was also waiting at the intersection.
There were many vehicles crossing at the time, and both drivers tried to pass at the same time. The vehicles collided, and the second car overturned. Emergency responders provide aid, and the driver complained of injuries.
The area was closed for several hours. No other injuries were provided.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is in progress.
