Jefferson Twp, MI (June 4, 2023) - A single-vehicle accident in Jefferson Township resulted in the death of a 19-year-old passenger on Thursday night, June 1.
The deadly accident was reported at the corner of Daily Road and Yankee Street at around 11 p.m. A car was traveling southbound when the driver lost control, left the roadway, and crashed into a tree. A passenger in the car, a 19-year-old Niles resident, was killed in the accident.
The 20-year-old Edwarsburg man driving the vehicle was seriously hurt and transported to Memorial Hospital for treatment. Speed and alcohol are believed to have played roles in the accident.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the deadly crash is in progress.
