Marcellus, MI (March 23, 2022) - A man from Three Rivers and a woman were airlifted to Bronson Methodist Hospital after they had to be extricated from the vehicle they were in during a crash in Cass County. The wreck was reported to officials in the area on Thursday evening, March 17.
Reports indicate the wreck happened around 10:00 p.m. on M-40 south of Pioneer Street in Marcellus. Initial information concerning the incident reveals that a 33-year-old Three Rivers woman was headed south on M-40 when her vehicle left the roadway and crashed into a tree.
The front seat passenger, identified as a 34-year-old man, sustained injuries in the wreck. The female driver was also injured. They both were extracted from the vehicle by firefighters and flown to a local hospital for treatment after being medically evaluated at the scene.
The contributing factors of the collision remain unknown at this time. Assisting agencies observed at the scene were Marcells Ambulance, Newburg Ambulance, Three Rivers Ambulance, Michigan State Police, and Newburg Fire.
Authorities in Marcellus continue to investigate.
