Head-on collisions are some of the deadliest and most common types of accidents. A head-on crash is more likely to result in fatal injuries than most other accidents with a death rate of more than 58%. Head-on crashes are the cause of over 10% of yearly road fatalities, however, they only account for less than 2% of all reported auto accidents. Distracted or reckless drivers who swerve into oncoming traffic are the most common cause of head-on collisions.
