Our thoughts are with those involved. We would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time.
Pedestrians are almost twice as likely to die during a car crash than the occupant of a vehicle, and if they do manage to survive being struck by a car, they usually have a very long period of recovery to endure. As reported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, approximately 129,000 people in the United States required emergency room visits in one recent year for treatment of injuries they sustained during pedestrian-involved accidents. Additionally, another 5,376 pedestrians died as a result of their injuries.
Accidents involving pedestrians produce more fatalities and more injured victims than any other kind of car accident. Since pedestrians are completely vulnerable, they typically sustain injuries that are more critical than any vehicle occupant. This is why it is important to solicit reputable legal counsel if you for a family member suffered an injury or lost their life to the carelessness of a driver.
