Michigan Auto Accidents

Berlin, MI - I-75 near Ready Rd Scene of Wrong-Way Collision with Injuries

Car accidents in the United States kill just as many people as guns each year. When you get behind the wheel of a vehicle, it is one of the most dangerous things you can do on any given day. Tens of thousands of deaths are recorded annually due to auto accidents, and millions of injuries. Wrong-way drivers take the lives of about 355 people per year.

Even though fewer miles have been driven during the pandemic, in the last 18 months, traffic fatalities have increased. Information from the National Safety Council reveals that an estimated 42,060 people were killed in auto collisions in 2020. This is a 24% increase from 2019’s accident-fatality rate.

In Michigan, traffic accidents take the lives of more than 1,000 people per year. An average of about 75,000 people sustain injuries in approximately 300,000 annual car wrecks. Car crashes can happen for many different reasons, currently, the leading causes are speeding, intoxication, and distraction. These are three types of driver negligence, which causes more than 90% of auto accidents per year.
