A significant number of fatal traffic accidents in Michigan involve semi-trucks. Trucking collisions are some of the most dangerous types of traffic collisions. This is especially true when smaller passenger vehicles are involved due to the extreme difference in size between vehicles. Semi-trucks are 20 to 30 times heavier than passenger vehicles. Even the most experienced trucker can make a vital error while driving that can result in a catastrophic collision.
The majority of freight in the United States is transported by commercial trucks, and these massive vehicles can endanger passengers in passenger cars. According to national accident statistics, smaller vehicle occupants are more likely to suffer life-threatening injuries in the event of a collision. Every year, over 500,000 trucking accidents are reported, resulting in thousands of deaths.
