Charlotte, MI (February 17, 2022) - A fire broke out at approximately 10:00 a.m. at Linn Products in Charlotte. Three people, including two firefighters, were hurt in the blaze.
One firefighter was transported to an area hospital for an injury to his finger while another was treated on-site for exhaustion. An employee of Linn Products was transported to an area hospital for symptoms obtained after attempting to fight the fire before officials arrived.
Linn Products is located in the 1200 block of Lipsey Drive. Firefighters with the Charlotte Fire Department stated that when they arrived, they saw heavy black smoke billowing out of the south side of the building. Employees stated that everyone was able to exit the building and that a fire was burning inside of a large tank.
Crews who entered the building upon arrival battled the intense heat and heavy smoke, according to information provided by CFD. More firefighters were then requested at the scene. Units responded from Charlotte, Delta Township, Benton Township, Bellevue Township, Vermontville, Eaton Rapids City, and Eaton Area EMS.
The fire was able to be controlled within about an hour, according to reports. The cause of the blaze is still under police investigation at this time. Total damages are expected to be very high.
