Southfield, MI (January 26, 2022) - A fire in the Southfield area on Tuesday evening, January 25, left two people injured. The blaze was reported at around 6:45 p.m. at the Solaire located at the 15000 block of Providence Drive.
The structure is marketed as a luxury highrise apartment complex for seniors ages 62 and older. Heavy smoke was reported from the basement and cafeteria area. Multiple fire departments were called to the scene to extinguish the fire and provide aid to those inside.
Some were able to evacuate the structure on their own, and two others were taken to a local hospital for treatment of sustained injuries. A third party was treated at the scene by responding medical personnel.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
