Detroit, MI (January 16, 2022) - A fire at a two-story apartment in Detroit on Saturday morning, January 15, resulted in the death of a two-year-old. The deadly blaze was reported on Plymouth Road at around 8:45 p.m.
Firefighters were called to the scene, and a young girl was reportedly trapped inside. The victim’s grandmother told responding officials that the child was still inside. Emergency crews found the victim inside the hallway near the front door.
Firefighters were able to pull the girl out, but she sustained fatal injuries due to the severity of her burns. A firefighter was also hospitalized after slipping on ice.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is underway. Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family in hopes of a full recovery.
We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time.

Wrongful death lawsuits are filed when a loved one dies as a result of another party's negligence, with the goal of compensating the surviving family members. Getting that compensation, on the other hand, is frequently easier said than done. The victim's death does not absolve the perpetrator of responsibility. Insurance companies for those who are at fault frequently try to shift blame after a fatal accident. Rather than compensating the family members of the deceased after a fatal car accident, the defendant should compensate the family members to assist with accident-related expenses. Only a personal injury lawyer in Detroit with years of experience helping victims pursue wrongful death claims can help you.
