Traveling by foot is one of the most dangerous ways to get around. It may not seem that way, however, if a pedestrian is hit by a vehicle, the injuries they usually sustain are often more severe than injuries sustained in a regular car crash. When we walk along busy roadways, we are putting ourselves at risk of being hit by a car driven by a negligent driver. Unfortunately, over 90% of reported traffic accidents in the United States are caused by some form of driver negligence. Many forms of driver negligence exist, including distraction, fatigue, and intoxication. It takes a second for an accident to take place and cause injuries that may last for months, or even a lifetime.
Depending on the circumstances of an accident, an injured victim may be forced into the hospital for a lengthy stay in order to recover. Repeat surgeries may even be necessary, rendering a person unable to work and earn a living for some time. This can all be very overwhelming and difficult, especially because these events are almost always unforeseen, and happen out of absolutely nowhere. No one is ever prepared to get hurt in an auto accident, let alone suffer severe or catastrophic injuries that could ultimately change their life.
