Campbell Twp, MI (December 24, 2021) - Information from state police in Michigan indicates that two people lost their lives and one was injured in a vehicle accident near Lake Odessa on Friday morning, December 23. At approximately 9:00 a.m., the crash occurred near the intersection of Hastings Road and Thompson Road in Ionia County.
Thompson Road was closed in both directions (M-50) between Hastings and Bell Roads while police worked to investigate the circumstances of the crash. Police in Michigan stated that a Pontiac Vibe, driven by a Hastings woman, aged 68, was traveling north on Hastings when she failed to stop at the intersection and collided with an eastbound GMC pickup.
The Pontiac’s driver and passenger were pronounced deceased on-site by medical professionals. The driver of the pickup truck sustained serious injuries. They were transported to an area hospital for treatment and are expected to survive.
Authorities in Campbell continue to investigate the details of the incident.
