Howard Twp, MI - 5-Year-Old Boy, Father Killed in Head-On Collision on M-60 near Pine Lake St

Howard Twp, MI (December 20, 2021) - At around 8:15 p.m. on the evening of Friday, December 17, Michigan State Police were dispatched to the scene of a major vehicle crash on M-60. The wreck was reported to have taken place near Pine Lake Street east of Niles. 

Sources say a 5-year-old boy and his father were traveling in a 2006 Ford headed west on M-60 when they were involved in a head-on crash with an eastbound 2007 Ford Edge SUV. The man and his son were both killed in the collision. 

Both father and son were pronounced deceased on-site by paramedics. We would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased victims at this time. 

The other driver and their passenger were reported to have sustained injuries that were non-life-threatening. They were transported to South Bend Hospital for treatment. 

Authorities in Howard continue to investigate the details of the incident.
