Detroit, MI (December 16, 2021) - Police in Detroit stated that speed was a contributing factor in a single-vehicle wreck that took the life of one person on Thursday morning, December 16. Reports state that it happened around 5:00 a.m. near Davison Street and Mound Road.
A 2020 Jeep Cherokee collided with a tree while carrying five people, officials said. What led up to the crash remains unclear at this time as police are still investigating. The current health conditions of the four others present in the Jeep at the time of the wreck have not been reported.
Traffic was backed up in the area while authorities worked to secure the scene. Local motorists were urged to use alternate travel routes while crews worked on-site.
Nothing further has been reported concerning the nature of the incident.

An auto accident can occur in the blink of an eye but can come with life-long consequences for injured victims. Sadly, tens of thousands of lives are cut short each year, and millions are hurt in traffic collisions in the United States and throughout Michigan. Over 300,000 motor vehicle crashes take place per year in the Wolverine State. Negligent driving often causes these wrecks, usually leading to the personal injury or death of the negligent drivers themselves and the innocent drivers they encounter on the roadway.
