Southfield, MI - 29-Year-Old Woman Killed in Car Accident on Nine Mile Rd near Northwestern Hwy

Southfield, MI (December 10, 2021) - A 29-year-old woman’s life was cut short after she was involved in a tragic accident on a roadway in Southfield. On Thursday afternoon, December 9, the woman was killed by a piece of scrap metal that crashed through her windshield. 

The accident happened on Nine Mile Road near the Northwestern Highway, according to reports. A pickup truck traveling east was towing a trailer full of scrap metal, according to police.  A piece of metal became loose for unknown reasons and went through the windshield of her vehicle. She was headed west at the time. 

Her vehicle then crashed and she suffered serious head trauma. She was transported from the scene to an area hospital by paramedics and was later pronounced deceased. 

Nine Mile Road was closed at Northwestern while responders worked at the scene. Authorities in Southfield continue to investigate.
