Saranac, MI (December 9, 2021) - Authorities responded to the scene of a fatal crash reported in Boston Township on the afternoon of December 8. It happened at approximately 1:47 p.m., officials said.
A man was fatally injured after he struck the rear of a semi-truck in the westbound lanes of Interstate 96 just east of Nash Highway. After colliding with the back of the truck, the car went underneath the trailer, trapping the driver inside the vehicle.
Upon their arrival at the scene, officials pronounced the male driver deceased. He has been identified as a 35-year-old from Kalamazoo, formerly of Illinois. He was the only occupant of the vehicle, according to reports.
At the time the crash happened, the semi’s driver was in the back of the trailer. He reportedly dove out of the way to avoid being hit by the car.
Police in Saranac continue to investigate the details of the wreck. Nothing further has been reported at this time concerning the crash or its circumstances.
We would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased victim.
After being injured in a car accident, it is important to have your attorney start their investigation as quickly as possible. This is because witnesses need to be interviewed, pictures need to be taken of the crash scene as well as the vehicle, and other evidence needs to be gathered.
The more time passes, the harder it is to track down witnesses that will help your case, and evidence, such as surveillance videos from nearby stores, could be deleted.
Your insurance carrier could, and most likely is, undervaluing your no-fault benefits without your knowledge. There are very strict deadlines for filing personal injury and insurance claims.
If you miss one of these deadlines, your case will be thrown out and you will not be given the opportunity to re-file, meaning you will be unable to collect compensation for your damages.
