Hudsonville, MI (December 9, 2021) - A 16-year-old Jenison girl was injured after her involvement in a traffic crash that happened near Hudsonville on the evening of Saturday, December 4. Police promptly responded to the scene located near 48th Avenue and Chicago Drive (M-121) at approximately 9:40 p.m.
A three-vehicle crash happened at the intersection. On arrival, responders found that two separate accidents had occurred, one being a single-vehicle collision and another involving two vehicles.
Preliminary reports show that a white Chevy Malibu was headed south on 48th Avenue when the driver lost control and crashed into a nearby field on the west side of the roadway. A witness in a silver pickup truck pulled over to help the driver, partly blocking a portion of the southbound travel lane.
A brown Volvo S60 headed south on 48th swerved to avoid the silver pickup, but ended up crashing into a black Ford Fusion headed north. The 16-year-old girl was driving the black Ford Fusion and sustained injuries in the wreck.
The other two drivers were not hurt. A 65-year-old Hudsonville man who was driving the Volvo was ticketed for careless driving in relation to the crash.
The roadway was closed for over an hour while officials worked to clear the scene. Nothing further has been reported at this time.
