Traveling by foot is one of the most dangerous ways to get around. It may not seem that way, however, if a pedestrian is hit by a vehicle, the injuries they usually sustain are often more severe than injuries sustained in a regular car crash. When we walk along busy roadways, we are putting ourselves at risk of being hit by a car driven by a negligent driver.
Unfortunately, over 90% of reported traffic accidents in the United States are caused by some form of driver negligence. Many forms of driver negligence exist, including distraction, fatigue, and intoxication. It takes a second for an accident to take place and cause injuries that may last for months, or even a lifetime.
Depending on the circumstances of an accident, an injured victim may be forced into the hospital for a lengthy stay in order to recover. Repeat surgeries may even be necessary, rendering a person unable to work and earn a living for some time. This can all be very overwhelming and difficult, especially because these events are almost always unforeseen, and happen out of absolutely nowhere.
