Bangor Twp, MI (December 5, 2021) - A house fire that happened in Bangor on the morning of December 2 claimed the life of one elderly man. At 7:33 a.m., Bay County Central Dispatch received a call concerning a fire on W Birch Drive.
Firefighters responded to the scene, arriving to discover a two-story house engulfed in flames. Sources say an 83-year-old female resident of the home was able to escape the flames. She was transported to McLaren Bay Region hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.
While battling the blaze, fire crews found a 78-year-old male inside the house who had lost his life. The decedent’s name has not been released pending the notification of next of kin.
A Michigan State Police fire investigator will be handling the examination into the cause of the fire.
