Allendale, MI (December 3, 2021) - A hit and run that happened in Allendale early on Sunday, November 28 sent one woman to the hospital with injuries. The wreck was reported at around 3:45 a.m., according to reports.
The incident occurred near Grand Valley State University on West Campus Drive just west of 48th Avenue, according to information from the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office. After investigating at the scene, the Sheriff’s Office determined that an unknown individual was headed east on West Campus Drive in a Dodge Avenger when they lost control of their vehicle and struck a tree.
The driver fled the scene on foot, however, the passenger in the vehicle, identified as a 19-year-old woman from Flint, suffered a severe leg injury. She was transported to Spectrum Hospital and was said to be in stable condition after the wreck took place.
No other vehicles or people were involved in the wreck. Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the accident.
Police in Allendale were assisted at the scene by Allendale Township Fire and Rescue, Life EMS, and Grand Valley State University Public Safety. They were unable to locate the car’s driver.
