Paradise, MI (November 29, 2021) - A man was killed during a head-on collision with another vehicle on Saturday, November 27th in Grand Traverse County.
Michigan State Police reported that a 50-year-old man driving a Chevrolet Equinox was heading northbound on South Garfield Road, in the area of East Blair Town Hall Road in Paradise Township, when he lost control of his vehicle, which slid into the southbound lanes of traffic and collided head-first with a car traveling southbound on South Garfield Road.
The driver of the Equinox, a man from Alma, had to be extracted from his vehicle. He was then transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the other vehicle, a 71-year-old resident of Kingsley, sustained fractures and an injury to their right hand.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family in hopes of a full recovery.
According to the state’s personal injury laws, although the person responsible for the accident died, their estate can still be petitioned for damages. In this situation, any claim for damages will be filed against the deceased’s estate.
This law becomes viable in cases where the negligent driver, or conversely, the injured victim. Was killed in the accident. A victim’s claim for economic recovery is justifiable even if one or both parties die.
