Marlette, MI (November 29, 2021) - The Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office was called to investigate a car accident that resulted in the death of a woman from Elkton on Monday, November 29th.
Sanilac Central Dispatch received reports about an injury accident on South Van Dyke Road in the area of Cooper Road in Marlette Township.
Officials said that a 54-year-old man from Elkton lost control of a 2002 Chevrolet Express Van due to snowy conditions and veered into oncoming traffic.
The van collided with a 2019 Volvo tractor-trailer being driven by a 51-year-old man from North Shores traveling northbound on South Van Dyke Road. The van then drifted back to the southbound lane and was struck by a 2015 Lexus being driven by a 76-year-old man from Pigeon.
A passenger in the van, a 48-year-old woman from Elkton, died at the scene.
Two other victims were transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment. It is unclear which of the three vehicles they were in.
