Allen Park, MI (November 26, 2021) - The 88-year-old victim of a hit-and-run driver in Allen Park passed away on Thanksgiving day, just one week after the incident occurred.
It accident took place at about 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 18th near the intersection of White Avenue and Allen Road. A police report shows that communication with the victim was difficult due to his injuries.
According to a family member, the elderly man was on his way to a bingo game when someone hit him with a car and then fled the scene.
An eyewitness was able to provide police with the license plate of the fleeing Ford Mustang.
On Monday, November 22nd, police made contact with the registered owner of the car, who said he was currently and had been since before the incident.
Due to the victim’s passing, any potential charges against the driver will be more serious than if he had lived.
According to officials, the registered owner of the car has been very cooperative. They are currently investigating a woman who admits to driving the car the day of the accident.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time.
Following a deadly Michigan car accident, it is imperative that the victim’s surviving family members meet with a reputable personal injury attorney because many important no-fault benefits are available to them, such as survivor’s loss benefits.
Sadly, most insurance carriers are either dishonest about which insurance benefits the family is entitled to collect, their calculations are incorrect, or the benefits do not include everything the family is qualified for, like funeral costs and burial expenses, social security benefits, replacement services, pension compensation, and disability benefits.
Data presented by the car insurance industry itself shows that families who agree to settle a claim with an insurance carrier directly receive, on average, three to four times less than what they would have received with an experienced car accident attorney.
