Industrial accidents are accidents that occur in a plant or factory, or production or industrial facility. The National Safety Council reported that production and manufacturing rank in the top five trades with the largest numbers of workplace fatalities and injuries. These can result in time away from work due to injuries ranging from moderate to deadly.
Most on-the-job industrial accidents entitle workers to compensation benefits. Worker’s compensation will pay any medical bills associated with their injury and partly cover their lost wages should the injury leave them disabled. It will not, however, compensate them for mental anguish, pain and suffering, or any other non-economic damages. Workers’ compensation benefits may also not be sufficient enough to reimburse you for all of your losses.
Based on the events leading up to your accident and injuries, you could be eligible to file a personal injury claim for financial compensation. These claims are based on employer negligence, product liability, or failure to provide adequate protection and care. In many cases, a personal injury suit is a better option for victims of industrial accidents than a workers’ compensation claim.
