Rochester Hills, MI (November 24, 2021) - A woman driving an SUV hit and killed an elderly man as he crossed a street in Rochester Hills inside a crosswalk on Sunday, November 21st.
The accident took place at about 5:55 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of Drexelgate Parkway, in the area of Livernois Road when a 77-year-old woman from Rochester Hills driving a 2018 Buick Encore on Livernois Road attempted to make a lefthand turn onto Drexelgate Parkway.
As she was turning, the woman struck a 73-year-old man, also from Rochester Hills, who was inside of a marked crosswalk.
Paramedics transported the victim to Ascension Providence Rochester Hospital where he passed away due to the severity of his injuries.
The woman was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to have been factors.
